Solo Exhibition – Enclosed

Stacey Korfiatis – Enclosed

Opening Drinks: Thursday 10 July, 6pm
Exhibition: 10 – 24 July, 2014

Through this exhibition, Stacey Korfiatis aims to highlight the relationship between the frame and the subject. In a series of portraits, the subjects struggle in their enclosures or lounge within the confines of the defined space, emphasising the limitations of the canvas as it is restricted by the frame. Traditionally the purpose of the frame is to direct the focus of the viewer to the work. This exhibition subverts the relationship between the subject and the frame, questioning whether the subject is limited by the frame or whether the two create a dialogue around figure, frame and space.

Stacey Korfiatis holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Metals & Jewellery) from Monash University. This is her first solo show since completing university. She has had an ongoing participation in the Melbourne art community since 2007.
